The Carriage House
Barnesville was once “The Buggy Capital of the South.” Each year in September, the historic downtown area hosts Buggy Days as old carriages and buggies, antique cars and trucks, marching bands, beauty queens, and anyone wanting to participate parade through the exquisite streets. Artisans and food vendors create a memorable experience for all who attend. The Bush family, who originally owned the farm, stored carriages in a carriage house beside the farmhouse. The exterior is a beautiful rustic site for a small wedding, as brides and grooms exchange vows in front of the unique facade and guests sit semi-circle on handcrafted benches in the shadows of ancient oaks.
The bride walkway and front porch steps of the white Victorian farmhouse are laid with hand-made, 140-year-old brick, repurposed from Dundee Mills in Griffin, GA. After the ceremony, a trail leads guests to the event barn to celebrate.
One couple created a Memory Tree adjacent to The Carriage House porch, featuring photos of family memories who would have been present “if heaven weren’t so far away.”
